Weather (W)

No prerequisite. The course is designed to help the boater become weather wise. It guides the student in making weather predictions based upon observations of the sky, upon barometer and wind information, as well as upon weather data provided by maps, satellite images, and radio and TV broadcasts. The course is now offered in 2 modules:

Weather 101
-Effects of Heat and Cold
-Wind and Pressure
-Storms and Fronts
-Rain, Humidity and Fog
-Floods, Droughts and Winter Precipitation

Weather 102
-Thunderstorms and Tornadoes
-Tropical Weather
-Atmosphere and Clouds
-Forecasting
-Climate

Each module runs 6 weeks then final exam
