Vessel Safety Checks
This program supports the goals of the Coast Guard Recreational Boating Safety program. Squadron members, qualified by training as Vessel Examiners, provide free safety checks for interested boat owners. The vessel examination determines whether a variety of safety related devices for the particular type and size of boat are onboard, properly installed, and in working condition. Upon successful completion of the examination, a vessel safety sticker good for one year is awarded for display on the boat.

This is not a law enforcement boarding.
There is no penalty
for failing to pass the examination.
You will be told immediately what deficiencies are present and what to do to correct them. You can then correct them, have a reexam, pass, and receive the sticker.
